281: Restore - Charmed - Leo/Piper - Her Rescuer
Title: Her Rescuer
Fandom: Charmed
Dedicated To: My rescuer, my beloved J <3 <3 <3
Characters/Pairings: Leo/Piper
Word Count: 500
Rating: PG/K+
Summary: Watching Leo, Piper reflects.
There's something about Leo's touch, something so healing and cathartic that it soothes Piper's very soul even when she's not physically injured. It's been there since the very first, when she'd thought of him only as a handyman, a temporary person in her life just there to do a job. He'd come into their lives, though, to heal so very much more than the Manor. The old house had greatly needed his tender, loving touch, but it hadn't been the only one.
Piper leans now in the doorway, watching her husband fix just a regular, old light bulb and reflecting with a tender smile. "What?" he asks.
"How many Angels does it take to mend a broken heart?" she asks, her grin twisting in sarcastic, self-depreciation. She knows it's lame, but it's nonetheless true. She wonders, sometimes, what would have happened if they had met while her grandmother had still been alive. The Powers That Be, and perhaps even her sisters, would have said that he wouldn't have come into their lives any earlier for he hadn't been needed, but Piper knew they were all wrong.
She'd always needed him. Since she'd been a little girl, she'd always needed him, someone to hold her in good times and bad, someone to stroke her hair and reassure her that she was beautiful when the world was getting to her, someone to nibble all her baked goods when she felt like flourishing through the kitchen in a baking storm. Prue had been the eldest, and Phoebe the youngest, and somewhere in between, Piper had become the person who felt like it was her duty to mend the whole family and all its myriad relationships. She'd patched up so many relationships, familial, friendships, and even romantic, over the years, but who had ever restored her own heart?
It had shattered when Grams had died, taking with her the one true friend Piper had had throughout her life. At that point in her life, she had not been close to Phebs for years, and though she lived with Prue, there had remained a great distance between them. Prue had always been busy with her work and social lives, but Piper hadn't cared as long as she'd had Grams. And then, suddenly, Grams had not been there.
And then they had realized they had been Witches all along, and she had met Leo, and the rest, as the saying went, had been history. Leo had come to them because he was their protector, but Piper can't help believing that he would have found her anyway. They would have found each other, no matter what they had been or what else had been happening. She had needed him, yearned for him even before she'd actually understood what she was looking for.
He has become so much more than a sexual partner, much more than her husband. He is rescuer, in both small ways and big, just as he'd always been intended to be. She kisses him.
