Title: Not For Them, But For Her
Dedicated To: My J <3 <3 <3
Fandom: Flash
Characters/Pairings: Unnamed, but I had Barry/Iris in mind.
Word Count: 200
Rating: G/K
Summary: Not for them, but for her, he always goes.
Sometimes he wishes his world wasn't so fast. Sometimes he wishes he could just linger in her arms, in the bed, in the shower, in the kitchen, or even just standing fully dressed, out and about on a busy street. He wishes he could just linger more often with her. He sees the lines growing around her eyes, feels how tired she is between running a full time job and being the mother to their children, their children with whom he also wishes he could spend more time.
But the world needs a hero, and the heroes it already has isn't enough. Central City in particular, their city, their home, needs him. She knows this -- they both know this --, and so it is, with a gentle kiss, some more passionate than others, she is forever sending him away from her. He fears one day he won't be able to come back to her, because something has happened to him or, far worse, something has happened to her.
But their city needs him. She needs him to fight, expects him to save others' lives. And so he goes. No matter how much he yearns to stay, he always goes.
The End
