Summary: The names and colours of the books mean nothing. They're all jerks.

Weiss, Noir, Rubrum... the names mean nothing. The colours represent nothing except codes used by a facility that died along with everything else in the old world. Rubrum sheds no more or less blood than the others, Weiss and Noir are not good and evil; when the battle is an endless sequence of the body rejecting the soul, a terrible, constantly repeating mistake, morality can't be black and white. If anything, the whole world is all three: the white of salt pillars, the red of endless slaughter, the darkness of the runes Nier now sees spreading through Kaine's very soul.
