To the Doctor, River Song is a complex puzzle, constructed from thousands of tiny pieces. So many of them conflict that she almost gives him a headache.
The woman is proficient with various forms of weaponry, while the Doctor prefers to avoid weapons whenever possible. She's as stubborn as it's possible to be, and often refuses to listen to sound advice. She's also a temporal paradox just waiting to happen. To cap it all, she's the daughter of his dearest friends, which could potentially cause no end of awkwardness.
For all this, though, the Doctor can't help finding her fascinating.
