A breakup, or a temporary respite from the stresses of their relationship? They both say different things, feel different ways. They'll probably never come to an agreement on it.
It doesn't matter, though, how Rachel meant the suggestion that they take a break. All Ross knows is that they're both aching inside, feeling the pain burning at both of their hearts.
Ross would gladly rot in Hell before he'd ever willingly hurt Rachel. From the look in her eyes, he has a feeling that she'd be more than happy for him to do exactly that.
He thinks he already is.
